Puskarini Sacred Pond
The sacred pond where Queen Maya Devi bathed before giving birth to Lord Buddha.
The Puskarini Sacred Pond (also spelled Pushkarani) lies just south of the Maya Devi Temple. According to Buddhist texts, Queen Maya Devi took a ritual purification dip in this holy pond before giving birth to Siddhartha Gautama. The infant Buddha was also bathed here for the first time. The tranquil waters and surrounding gardens make it a serene place for reflection and prayer.
