Kudan, located just 5 km from Tilaurakot, is the historical site of the ancient Nyigrodharama Monastery. According to Buddhist scriptures, this is where King Suddhodana met his son, the newly enlightened Siddhartha Gautama (Lord Buddha), for the very first time after his attainment of Buddhahood. The archaeological site contains the ruins of the Nyigrodha (banyan tree) monastery, an Ashoka Pillar, and an ancient stupa. The site holds deep emotional and spiritual significance for devotees of Buddhism worldwide.
