Lumbini is situated approximately 300 kilometers southeast of Kathmandu and just 3 kilometers north of the India-Nepal border. Travelers can reach Lumbini from Kathmandu with a 30 minute flight to Bhairahawa Airport, followed by a 25 minute taxi ride to Lumbini Hotel Kasai.

Lumbini experiences a tropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The summer months, from April to June, can be quite hot, with temperatures often exceeding 35°C (95°F).
